About Us

The Department of Elections and Voter Registration combines the registration of voters and the management of elections in York County.

The registration of voters involves maintaining and updating voter registration records for York County. This is acheived by coordinating changes with the United States Post Office, Penn DOT, the Pennsylvania Department of State, and other counties throughout the state of Pennsylvania.

The management of elections includes, but is not limited to, accepting nomination petitions/papers, preparing street list s for candidates, development of official and specimen ballots, publishing public notices regarding upcoming elections, establishing voting distrcts and polling places, training and recruiting local Boards of Election to staff polling places for each voting district, and preparing over 600 voting machines for delivery to all election districts.

York County consists of 159 election districts.

As of 2010, there are over 264,00 registered voters in York County.
